What are your hobbies: I like to go to the gym, do some martial arts and bouldering. I also follow news and the economy. Of course, as a nerd I enjoy playing video games. I even have my Super Nintendo connected to my TV.
Tell us little bit about yourself? What do you do and what kind of work tasks does your working day include?
I work in our Architecture team which includes five people. The title is Strategic Architect, whatever that means. Basically, now I’m modernizing, integrating, and automating the technical tools, methods and processes we use to develop software. I’m also part of Platform development team where is eight of us. Our work now affects quite a few parties and there is also a lot of coordination and cooperation with the various teams for whom these are new tools. Currently around eight of our project teams use our tools, and more are coming all the time.
How did you end up working at Enento? How long have you been working here?
Before joining Enento, I worked as an IT consultant for about 4-5 years. Then I was approached by a headhunter and asked if I would be interested about this kind of in-house development role. I went for an interview and immediately got feeling that this was good opportunity to me. Now in the spring I have worked here for five years.
What is interesting in your field right now? Are there any interesting changes or reforms coming?
We developers are always in such an interesting situation. If you think about our field, the software side, it’s always running ahead at its own pace. In the last five years we have seen the emergence of container technology and these kinds of new things are reflected in the maintainability of the software and the productivity of development here in Enento. Because of the standard features of containers, we get more automation around them and we can get closer to a hundred percent in the service uptime.
The credit information industry, where Enento operates, is heavily regulated. For example, there are EU regulates, and in recent years KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti Money Laundering), GDPR and PSD2 have come into play. These have again opened new opportunities for us to serve our customers. For example, we are packaging a PSD2 service to help our customers make better credit decisions. This is Fintech, which we are very much in, even though we are such an old-school company of over a century.
What does all this have to do with a regular coder then? New technology makes it possible to make services that no one has ever done, because they have only now become possible. At least to me this sounds good.
What developments you see in your industry in the future?
Building software will become easier as we have more tools to work with. That will increase efficiency and automation of application development. The other thing is AI, which is talked about all the time. At Enento Group we have a lot of projects going on around AI and we’re taking advantage of it to make better credit decisions.
What is the best thing about your job? What is it like to work in Enento? Tell us something about your co-workers!
Well, the best thing about this job are the people you work with. Some of my best friends are from here and I see them every week. We have a great culture in this house. I’m not sure if it’s the good culture that attracts so many good people to work here or if we have the good culture because we have so many good people working here. It’s a pretty good combination either way.
